Earth Month Spotlight: Athletic Brewing Company – Polycarbin

Earth Month Spotlight: Athletic Brewing Company

It's not surprising that the brewing industry is deeply invested in sustainability. Breweries rely heavily on natural resources for production and often have close ties to their communities, so good environmental stewardship is paramount. One brewery leading the way in responsible environmental management is Athletic Brewing Company,

Founded in 2017 by Bill Shufelt and John Walker, Athletic Brewing Company is revolutionizing how modern adults drink by crafting game-changing non-alcoholic beer that can be consumed anytime and anywhere. Even though Athletic brews are non-alcoholic, they're still creating  quite a buzz with outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, which recently named Athletic “The Hottest Beer in America.” Cases of Athletic's Upside Dawn Golden, Run Wild IPA, and Free Wave Hazy IPA have flown off the store shelves as their popularity has skyrocketed. But Athletic offers more than great-tasting brews; their commitment to environmental responsibility deserves equal praise.

Athletic Brewing began their partnership with Polycarbin in early 2023 by purchasing low-carbon consumables for their laboratory work. Since then, their team has supplanted 384 kg of crude oil, reduced 1,413 kg of CO2 equivalent, and conserved 480 cubic meters of water through their work with Polycarbin. Their commitment to closing the loop reduces their dependence on fossil fuels and is just one key way that they use their business as a force for good.

Athletic Brewing Company demonstrates how a commitment to sustainability can be seamlessly integrated into business operations. By prioritizing environmental responsibility alongside product excellence, Athletic Brewing not only sets a high standard for the industry but also underscores the potential for businesses to make a positive impact on the planet. As consumers increasingly seek out companies that align with their values, Athletic Brewing's dedication to sustainability both enhances its reputation and serves as a model for others to follow suit in forging a more environmentally conscious future.
